2.30.010 Fire board.

(a) Pursuant to the authority in Sections 61.65, 62.13 and 60.55, Wis. Stats., the village of Arena creates a fire board, which shall govern and control the actions of the joint village of Arena and town of Arena fire and rescue department.

(b) Members – Appointment. The village of Arena shall appoint one member, who shall be appointed by the president and confirmed by the village board. Members shall serve for a period of one year.

(c) Meetings. The fire board shall meet pursuant to the establishing agreement approved by the village board.

(d) Duties. It shall be the duty of the fire board to take charge of, study, develop, and maintain and operate the fire equipment for the village of Arena, and to employ the necessary personnel for the operation thereof.

(e) Regulations. The fire board shall be authorized to appoint such employees as may be necessary for the effective administration, operation, and development of the fire facilities of the village of Arena, subject, however, within the limitations of available funds. Prior to the first day of October of each year, the fire board shall submit to the village board an annual budget for the ensuing year, and file the same with the village clerk, and upon the approval of the village board, such necessary expenditures shall be included in the budget of the village. The fire board shall submit to the village board, at the village board’s regular meeting in January of each year, a report upon the activities of the fire board during the preceding year.

(f) Expenses. The fire board shall control and audit the expenses of the fire department. [Prior code § 2-4-4].
