ISSUANCE OF WORTHLESS CHECKS TO THE TOWN OF EAST TROY

3.55.010 Return fee.
All persons writing checks to the Town of East Troy, Sanitary District No. 2 and No. 3, Lake Beulah Lake Management District, or any committee or subunit of Town government, for any payment, including but not limited to fees and fines, shall pay a $25.00 fee to the Town for each check returned to the Town for insufficient funds, and shall further remit to the Town the amount specified in the returned check, within 15 days upon receiving written notice from the Town of a returned check. The notice requirement herein only applies to the $25.00 returned check fee and is not an extension of the deadline for the payment of the returned check. (2008 code § 9.36(1))
3.55.020 Failure to pay fee.
Failure of any person to pay the fee for each returned check within the 15-day time period provided in ETMC 3.55.010 is a violation of this chapter. Failure to comply with the requirements of this chapter will result in a forfeiture of not less than $100.00, nor more than $500.00, plus costs and the $25.00 returned check fee. Failure to pay the return fee for a single returned check constitutes a single offense. Persons issuing a worthless check to the Town of East Troy, Sanitary District No. 2 and No. 3, Lake Beulah Lake Management District or any committee or subunit of Town government are also subject to prosecution under Chapter 9.45 ETMC, as well as under applicable state laws.
