12.05.010 Skate park designated.

The city of Bell Gardens designates and maintains as a skate park facility (hereinafter “skate park”) that area located at 6637 Florence Place for the purpose of riding or using skateboards and in-line skates. (Ord. 726 § 1, 1999).

12.05.020 Required riding equipment in skate parks.

It is unlawful for a person to ride or use a skateboard or in-line skates in the skate park unless that person is wearing a helmet, elbow pads and knee pads. (Ord. 726 § 1, 1999).

12.05.030 In-line skating permitted.

In-line skating shall be permitted in the city’s skate park. (Ord. 726 § 1, 1999).

12.05.040 Skateboarding and in-line skating hazardous recreational activities.

Skateboarding and in-line skating at the city’s skate park represent hazardous recreational activities for participants and the city of Bell Gardens will not be liable for injuries incurred by persons participating in the hazardous recreational activities in the city’s skate park. (Ord. 726 § 1, 1999).

12.05.050 Miscellaneous regulations.

Within the city’s skate park, it shall be unlawful for any person to:

A. Place or utilize obstacles or other materials within the skate park that are not affixed to the skate park by the city for recreational purposes;

B. Enter the skate park for purposes other than skateboarding, in-line skating, or assisting a skateboarder or in-line skater in exiting the skate park;

C. Use the skate park while under the influence of alcohol or drugs that would impair the person’s judgment or motor skills;

D. Use or possess glass containers within the skate park;

E. Engage in reckless or boisterous behavior or any other activity that could endanger the safety of other persons using the skate park;

F. Enter or be upon the skate park at any time except during its scheduled hours of operation of 7:00 a.m. to dusk; or as the same may be changed by the city from time to time;

G. Ride, operate, or utilize any device other than a skateboard or in-line skates. (Ord. 726 § 1, 1999).

12.05.060 Posting signs at skate park.

The recreation services department shall cause a sign or signs to be posted at the skate park providing reasonable notice of the requirements of BGMC 12.05.020 and stating that any person failing to comply will be guilty of an infraction and subject to citation. (Ord. 726 § 1, 1999).

12.05.070 Penalty.

Violation of any provision of this chapter is declared to be an infraction. (Ord. 726 § 1, 1999).
