10.35.010 Preferential parking areas established.

Pursuant to the California Vehicle Code Section 22507, the city council designates the following as preferential parking areas:

Area 1

La Plaza Avenue between Old Redwood Highway and West Cotati Avenue

Area 2

La Plaza Avenue between Old Redwood Highway and West Sierra Avenue

Area 3

The north side of East Sierra Avenue between La Plaza Avenue and Old Redwood Highway

(Ord. 785 § 1(part), 2006).

10.35.020 Preferential parking regulations.

A. In preferential parking areas 1 and 2, between the hours of six a.m. and six p.m. on any one day, excepting Sundays and holidays, it is unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to leave such vehicle unattended for a period of time greater than two hours.

B. In preferential parking area 3, between the hours of six a.m. and six p.m. on any one day, excepting Sundays and holidays, it is unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to leave such vehicle unattended for a period of time greater than four hours.

C. Violations of this section shall be an infraction and shall be punishable as provided by law. (Ord. 785 § 1(part), 2006).

10.35.030 Preferential permit parking exemptions.

A. A motor vehicle on which is displayed a valid parking permit issued by the city shall be exempt from the provisions of this chapter with respect only to preferential parking areas 1 and 2.

B. A motor vehicle on which is displayed fire department insignia or markings such as to indicate that the operator of the vehicle is employed by a fire department, shall be exempt from the provisions of this chapter with respect only to preferential parking area 3.

C. A parking permit issued by the city shall not guarantee or reserve to the holder thereof an on-street parking space within any preferential parking area, nor shall permit holders be exempt from parking restrictions or prohibitions other than as set forth in this chapter.
