7.04.010 Definitions.

In this chapter, “dairy” means any place keeping two or more cows in full lactation or freshening within four months of each other, and producing milk or cream for the purpose of selling same to the public. (Prior code § 3010)

7.04.020 Substandard milk prohibited.

It is unlawful for any dairy or employee of any dairy to sell, offer for sale, distribute or have in possession for sale or distribution in this city any milk or cream for human consumption as milk or cream, unless such milk or cream measures up to the requirements of “Grade A” milk, established by Section 35781 of the Agricultural Code, and amendments thereto, and the rules and regulations of the State Department of Agriculture for its enforcement. 7.04.030 Quality standards.

In addition to conforming to the foregoing standards and requirements, all milk must contain not less than three and one-half percent of fat and not more than fifty thousand bacteria per cubic centimeter, and shall be produced from tuberculin tested cows. (Prior code § 3012)

7.04.040 Certificate of compliance.

A certificate or statement from any local milk inspection service approved by the State Department of Agriculture to the effect that a dairy has passed inspection successfully shall be satisfactory proof that this chapter has been complied with, for the period that such certificate or statement is issued. 7.04.050 Violation.

Any person, firm or corporation who violates any provision of this chapter, or any rule or regulation made hereunder, is guilty of a misdemeanor. (Prior code § 3014)
