10.24.010 One-way alleys designated.

The alleys running through Blocks 16, 17, 18, 19, 26, 27, 28, 29, 35, 36, 37, and 38 of this city are all declared to be one-way alleys; and, it is unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle in or on any of the alleys running through Blocks 16, 18, 19, 26, 27, 29, 35, 37, and 38 save in a northerly direction thereon; and, it is unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle in or on any of the alleys running through Blocks 17, 28, and 36 save in a southerly direction thereon; or to leave, allow or permit to stand, any vehicle, while engaged in receiving or discharging freight or passengers, in any portion save the extreme right side of said alleys. 10.24.020 Designation of one-way alleys by resolution.

The city council may by resolution designate and establish one-way alleys in addition to those designated by Section 10.24.010; and may by such resolution determine the lawful direction vehicles may be operated on such alleys. (Ord. 434 § 11 (part), 1968: prior code § 6171.1)

10.24.030 Emerging from one-way alleys.

The driver or operator of any vehicle in any of said oneway alleys shall, before emerging therefrom, bring such vehicle to a complete stop at the sidewalk line and shall not proceed until the way is completely clear. (Prior code § 6172)

10.24.040 Signposting.

The superintendent of streets shall post, or cause to be posted, and shall maintain, at the end of each alley from which traffic will lawfully emerge, at or near the edge thereof, so as to be plainly visible, signs bearing the words “one-way” and an arrow pointing in the direction designated by Section 10.24.010 or by resolution adopted in accordance with Section 10.24.020; also a stop sign.
