2.24.010 Creation.

There is created and established the police department of the city. (Ord. 221 § 2 (part), 1981)

2.24.020 Direction.

The police department shall be under the direction of the chief of police, who shall discharge all duties imposed by law upon him. (Ord. 221 § 2 (part), 1981)

2.24.030 Police chief—Appointment— Direction.

The chief of police shall be appointed by the city manager and shall carry out his duties under the direction of the city manager. (Ord. 221 § 2 (part), 1981)

2.24.040 Officers—Recruitment and training.

The city council declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the state under provisions of Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4 of the California Penal Code. Pursuant to Section 13522 of said Chapter 1, the city will adhere to the standards for recruitment and training established by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. 2.24.050 Public safety dispatchers—Selection and training.

The city of Foster City declares that it desires to qualify to receive aid from the state of California under the provisions of Section 13522, Chapter 1 of Title 4, Part 4, of the California Penal Code. Pursuant to Section 13510(c), Chapter 1, the public safety dispatchers will adhere to the standards and training set by the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training. Pursuant to 13512, Chapter 1, the Commission and its representatives may make such inquiries as deemed appropriate by the Commission to ascertain that the public safety dispatcher personnel are in compliance.
