2.01.010 Commission created.

A Planning Commission in and for the City is hereby created. Said Commission shall consist of five members, who shall be appointed for terms of four years each, who shall be appointed as follows:

A. Each candidate for membership on the Planning Commission shall be invited to a meeting of the City Council and may make a brief statement to the Council. Each member of the City Council may ask questions of each candidate.

B. At the next regular or special meeting of the City Council each member of the City Council shall be entitled to nominate one person for membership on the Planning Commission. The Mayor shall then appoint the member of the Planning Commission with the approval of the City Council.

C. If a vacancy shall occur otherwise than by the expiration of term, it shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired portion of the term. (Ord. 92-16, 10-20-1992)

2.01.020 Duties.

It shall be the duty of the planning commission to discharge the duties specified in “The Planning Act” of 1929, being Chapter 838 of the statutes of California of the 49th (1929) session, as amended by statutes 1937, p. 817; statutes 1941, p. 2932; statutes 1945, Chs. 80, 715, 1331, 1441 of the statutes of California and said act of Legislature is hereby by reference incorporated into and made a part of this chapter1. 2.01.030 Commission funds.

The City Council shall have the right to allocate and appropriate to the use of the Planning Commission out of the general funds such money as may be necessary during each fiscal year for the operation of said Planning Commission. (Ord. 77-25, 9-1977; Ord. 152, 2-26-1946)
