(A) Equestrian Residential (ER). This zone is intended for rural single-family residential uses, and secondary agricultural/animal-keeping uses. The areas within this designation are rural in nature, expressed through large lots (parcel sizes are commonly 2.5 acres or larger), unimproved dirt roads, and the integration of dwellings into the natural or agricultural landscape. These areas are generally outside of the City limits, but within the City’s sphere of influence. This zone implements the Equestrian Residential General Plan land use designation.

(B) Low Density Residential (LDR). This zone is intended for mixed rural/suburban single-family residential uses, at a maximum of one dwelling unit per acre. The LDR zone is appropriate for hillside areas, as a transition between rural and suburban areas and in keeping with the County of Los Angeles land use designations within the sphere of influence. Parcel sizes are commonly one acre (or larger), and unimproved dirt roads may be occasionally present. These areas are mostly outside of the City limits (but within the sphere of influence) and are intended to serve as the edge of the urbanized City. This zone implements the Low Density Residential General Plan land use designation. (Ord. 1603 § 4 (Exh. I), 2023)
