10.04.010 Applicability of definitions.
The words and phrases defined in this chapter, when used in this title, shall for the purpose of this title have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.020 Vehicle Code definitions apply.
Whenever any words or phrases used in this title are not defined, but are defined in the Vehicle Code of the state and amendments thereto, such definitions shall apply. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.030 Coach.
"Coach" means any motor bus, motor coach, trackless trolley or passenger stage used as a common carrier of passengers. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.040 Curb.
"Curb" means the lateral boundary of the roadway whether such curb is marked by curbing construction or not so marked; "curb" as used in this title shall not include the line dividing the roadway of a street from parking strips in the center of a street, nor from tracks or rights-of-way of public utility companies. 10.04.050 Divisional island.
"Divisional island" means a raised island located in the roadway and separating opposing or conflicting streams of traffic. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.060 Holidays.
For purposes of this title, a "holiday" is any holiday designated by the state or federal government which is observed by the city as a city holiday. (Ord. 627 § 13, 2001: Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.070 Loading zone.
"Loading zone" means a space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.080 Parking meter.
"Parking meter" means a mechanical device installed within or upon the curb or sidewalk area, immediately adjacent to a parking space, for the purpose of controlling the period of time occupancy of such parking meter space by any vehicle. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.090 Parkway.
"Parkway" means the portion of a street other than a roadway or a sidewalk. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.100 Passenger loading zone.
"Passenger loading zone" means the space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.110 Pedestrian.
"Pedestrian" means any person afoot. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.120 Police officer.
"Police officer" means every officer of the police department of this city or any officer authorized to direct or regulate traffic or to make arrests for violations of traffic regulations. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.130 Stop.
"Stop," when required, means complete cessation of movement. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
10.04.140 Vehicle Code.
"Vehicle Code" means the Vehicle Code of the state. (Ord. 230 § 1 (part), 1965)
