6.55.010 Registration required.

A. Registration information. Each person operating a hotel or motel in the city shall require each guest to register the following information before occupying a room:

1. Name and home or business address of each occupant, except for children under age 18. The hotel operator shall require photographic identification to confirm the identity.

2. The make, model and license number and state of registration of any vehicle driven by the guest. However, a hotel with pay parking is exempt from this requirement.

3. The date of registration and number of days the guest is staying.

4. The room number where the guest is staying.

B. Posting. The hotel or motel operator shall post the requirements of this section in a conspicuous place where guests typically register.

C. Keeping registration information. The hotel or motel operator shall retain the registration information on the premises for one year. The registration information must be available for inspection by the police department at any time. (Ord. 866 § 1, 2012)

6.55.020 Inspection.

Each hotel and motel operator in the city shall provide the registration information required under PHMC § 6.55.010 for immediate inspection whenever requested by a city police officer. (Ord. 866 § 1, 2012)

6.55.030 Violations.

A. Hotel or motel operator. It is unlawful for a hotel or motel operator to fail to comply with this chapter.

B. Guest. It is unlawful for a hotel or motel guest to fail to provide the information required, to provide false information, or to enter a room for the purpose of prostitution.

C. Enforcement. A person who violates this chapter is subject to civil and criminal penalties as set forth in PHMC Chapter 1.25. (Ord. 866 § 1, 2012)
