Chapters 2.55 and 2.60 MTC and all subsequent amendments thereto may be cited as the “municipal court ordinance.” [Ord. 2013-05; prior code § 5-1-1]
2.55.020 Municipal court – Judicial officer.
The municipal court of the town of Mesilla shall be presided over by the municipal judge. The municipal court of the town of Mesilla shall be an independent judicial branch. The municipal court shall be independent in its decisions and its administration, but remains interdependent upon the town of Mesilla for its finances, services and facilities. 2.55.030 Jurisdiction.
The municipal court has jurisdiction over all offenses and complaints under ordinances of the municipality and may issue subpoenas and warrants and punish for contempt. [Ord. 2013-05; prior code § 5-1-3]
