12.10.010 System established.

There is hereby established a uniform system of numbering of houses and buildings fronting on all streets, avenues, alleys and highways in the city of Creswell. [Ord. 120 § 1, 1950].

12.10.020 Base lines.

Oregon Avenue shall constitute the base line for all numbering on streets running north and south, and Front Street shall constitute the base line for all numbering on the avenues running east and west. [Ord. 120 § 2, 1950].

12.10.030 Numbering.

The numbers shall run from one to 99 in the first block from each base line, and said numbers shall be determined by proportioning the numbers with the number of feet in the block to be numbered. Each additional block from the base line shall have an additional 100 numbers to be so proportioned. The numbers to be assigned shall be even numbers on the east side of the north and south streets, and shall be on the north side of the east and west avenues. Fractional numbers may be used in case of apartment buildings or buildings located in the rear of buildings fronting on any street. [Ord. 120 § 3, 1950].

12.10.040 City recorder and street committee to control.

The city recorder and street committee shall have complete control of numbering all buildings under this chapter, and their decision as to the numbers to be assigned shall be final. [Ord. 120 § 4, 1950].

12.10.050 Placement of house numbers and mailboxes.

A. All houses shall be numbered with numbers conspicuously placed on same, said numbers to be not less than three inches in height and of a material and color which will be clearly visible from the street. All buildings must be numbered within 30 days after notification of correct number.

B. Residents may place mailboxes on the city street or on their property at such locations as are approved by the street committee. Such boxes shall be plainly numbered with the same number as their street address. [Unnumbered ordinance dated 1/24/1972; unnumbered ordinance dated 5/11/1970; Ord. 120 § 5, 1950].

12.10.060 Penalties.

Anyone violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to a fine not exceeding $25.00. [Ord. 120 § 6, 1950].
