FINE ASSESSMENT FOR POLICE TRAINING

3.20.010 Assessment collected when.

Whenever the municipal court of the city of Junction City imposes a fine, including a fine imposed and thereafter suspended, or orders a bail forfeiture, as a penalty for violation of an ordinance of the city, except relating to violations which are also crimes under state law and relating to cars unlawfully left or parked, an assessment levied under state law shall be collected. 3.20.020 Payment.

The assessment shall be paid to the city of Junction City. Upon receipt, the city will credit the amount to the account entitled “Assessments for Training” within the general fund. [Ord. 1194 § 2, 2010; Ord. 966 § 2, 1993.]

3.20.030 Amount of assessment.

The police department training fees shall be established by resolution of the city council. [Ord. 1194 § 3, 2010; Ord. 966 § 3, 1993.]

3.20.040 Bail deposit.

When any deposit of bail is made for an offense to which this chapter applies, the person making such deposit shall also deposit a sufficient amount to include the assessment prescribed in JCMC 3.20.030. [Ord. 966 § 4, 1993.]

3.20.050 Forfeit of bail.

If bail is forfeited, the assessment prescribed in this chapter shall be deposited as provided in JCMC 3.20.020. If bail is returned, the assessment thereon shall also be returned. [Ord. 966 § 5, 1993.]

3.20.060 Use of funds.

Moneys received for the assessment shall be used to defray the training costs of police department staff. [Ord. 966 § 6, 1993.]
