1.64.010 Established.

There is established a district court in Chelan County, Washington effective January 1, 1970, in accordance with the provisions set forth in this chapter. (Res. 85-28 § 1, 4/2/85: Res. 84-52 § 1, 6/19/84: Res. 592-E § 1, 11/17/69).

1.64.020 Boundaries.

There shall be one district court, the boundaries of which shall be identical with the boundaries of Chelan County. (Res. 85-28 § 2, 4/2/85: Res. 84-52 § 2, 6/19/84: Res. 592-E § 2, 11/17/69).

1.64.030 Justice of the peace—Election.

There shall be one full-time district judge to be elected in the district; provided, that the board of county commissioners may by resolution provide for the establishment of one additional full-time judge. (Res. 85-28 § 3, 4/2/85: Res. 84-52 § 3, 6/19/84: Res. 592-E § 3, 11/17/69).

1.64.040 Justice of the peace—Full-time position.

The office of justice of the peace of the Chelan County district justice court shall be a full-time position as the same as defined by the 1961 District Justice Court Act, Chapter 3.30 RCW et seq. (Res. 672-E, 6/29/70).

1.64.050 Records.

The central office, court room and records of the court shall be located in the Chelan County Courthouse in Wenatchee, Washington. (Res. 592-E § 4, 11/17/69: Res. 84-52 § 4, 6/19/84).

1.64.060 Locations.

The district court shall sit at Wenatchee, and is authorized in its discretion to sit at any other location in the county. (Res. 592-E § 5, 11/17/69: Res. 84-52 § 5, 6/19/84; Res. 85-28 § 4, 4/2/85).

1.64.070 Commissioners.

There shall not be more than two commissioners. (Res. 592-E § 6, 11/17/69: Res. 111-G, 1/22/74: Res. 84-52 § 6, 6/19/84; Res. 85-28 § 5, 4/2/85).

1.64.075 Court commissioner salary.

The salary of the Chelan County court commissioner shall be set at eighty-eight and one-half percent of the superior court judge salary effective July 1, 2012. (Res. 2012-64, 7/16/12).

1.64.080 Name.

The name of the court shall be “Chelan County District Court.” (Res. 592-E § 9, 11/17/69: Res. 84-52 § 7, 6/19/84; Res. 85-28 § 6, 4/2/85).

1.64.090 Justice to take office.

The justice hereafter named by the Chelan County Commissioners to fill the justice position created under this plan shall take office on January 1, 1970, and all pending cases, proceedings, and matters shall be transferred to the appropriate court as provided in RCW 3.74.900 on said date. 1.64.100 Incumbent justice terms to expire.

The terms of incumbent justices of the peace of Chelan County shall end on December 31, 1969. (Res. 592-E § 11, 11/17/69: Res. 84-52 § 9, 6/19/84).
