SHERIFF’S FEES

1.75.010 Sheriff’s fees.

The sheriff shall collect the following fees for official services:

(1)    For service of each summons and complaint, notice and complaint, summons and petition, and notice of small claim on one defendant at any location, forty dollars, and on two or more defendants at the same residence, fifty dollars, plus mileage;

(2)    For making a return, twenty dollars for each return of service, plus mileage;

(3)    For levying each writ of attachment or writ of execution upon real or personal property, one hundred dollars per hour, plus mileage;

(4)    For filing copy of writ of attachment, order of sale or writ of execution with auditor, twenty dollars plus auditor’s filing fee;

(5)    For service of writ of possession or restitution without aid of the county, one hundred dollars, plus mileage;

(6)    For service of writ of possession or restitution with aid of the county, one hundred dollars for each hour after one hour, plus mileage;

(7)    For service on an arrest warrant in any action or proceeding, fifty dollars, plus mileage;

(8)    For executing any other writ or process in a civil action or proceeding, one hundred dollars per hour, plus mileage;

(9)    For each mile actually and necessarily traveled in going to or returning from any place of service, or attempted service, fifty-seven cents per mile with a twenty-dollar minimum mileage charge;

(10)    For all other mileage that requires a mode of transportation other than a passenger vehicle, a determination of cost will be made by the sheriff on a case-by-case basis;

(11)    For making a deed to lands sold upon execution or order of sale or other decree of court, to be paid by the purchaser, sixty dollars;

(12)    For making copies of papers when sufficient copies are not furnished, two dollars for first page and one dollar per each additional page;

(13)    For the service of any other document and supporting papers for which no other fee is provided herein, fifty dollars, plus mileage;

(14)    For posting a notice of sale, or postponement, fifteen dollars, plus mileage;

(15)    For certificate or bill of sale of property, or certificate of redemption, fifty dollars;

(16)    For conducting a sale of property, one hundred dollars per hour spent at a sheriff’s sale;

(17)    For notarizing documents, ten dollars for each document;

(18)    For fingerprinting for noncriminal purposes, twenty dollars for each person for up to two sets, five dollars for each additional set;

(19)    For mailing required by statute, whether regular, certified, or registered, the actual cost of postage;

(20)    For an internal criminal history records check, twenty dollars;

(21)    For reproduction and dissemination of accident and incident reports, ten dollars;

(22)    For the reproduction of audio, visual, or photographic material, to include magnetic microfilming, the actual cost including personnel time;

(23)    For additional officer assist on any and all services where additional officer assistance is deemed necessary at the discretion of the sheriff, one hundred dollars an hour per officer.

Fees allowable under this section may be recovered by the prevailing party incurring the same as court costs to the extent provided by RCW 36.18.040(2).
