SPEED LIMITS

10.50.010    Fulton Street – Twenty miles per hour.

10.50.040    Old Highway 99 – Thirty-five miles per hour.

10.50.045    Freeway Drive – Thirty-five miles per hour.

10.50.050    Playground speed zone.

10.50.060    Riverside Drive – Thirty miles per hour.

10.50.010 Fulton Street – Twenty miles per hour.

There is established a speed limit on Fulton Street between North Fourth Street and the Mount Vernon High School parking lot of 20 miles per hour. (Ord. 2229 § 1, 1986).

10.50.020 Cederdale Road – Thirty-five miles per hour.

That section of Cederdale Road between Hickox Road and Anderson Road shall be decreased from 50 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour. (Ord. 3261, 2005).

10.50.030 East Division Street – Thirty-five miles per hour.

That section of East Division Street from the eastern city limits to Cedarwood Court shall be decreased from 45 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour. (Ord. 3262, 2005).

10.50.040 Old Highway 99 – Thirty-five miles per hour.

That section of Old Highway 99 between Hickox Road and Suzanne Lane shall be decreased from 50 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour. (Ord. 3263, 2005).

10.50.045 Freeway Drive – Thirty-five miles per hour.

The speed limit of that section of Freeway Drive starting at the Freeway Drive and Cameron Way intersection and ending approximately 900 feet south of the intersection of College Way and Freeway Drive shall be 35 miles per hour where signs are posted. (Ord. 3628 § 2, 2014; Ord. 3569 § 1, 2012).

10.50.050 Playground speed zone.

A. There is established a maximum speed limit on South 18th Street of 20 miles per hour when children are present which shall extend within 300 feet from the border of the Kiwanis Park property where signs are erected giving notice thereof.

B. The term “when children are present” shall mean the 20-mile-per-hour playground speed limit is in force under the conditions set forth under WAC 468-95-350 as now or hereafter amended.

C. Notwithstanding subsection B of this section, the term “when children are present” shall also mean the 20-mile-per-hour playground speed limit is in force during all times when the Kiwanis Spray Water Park is open to the public as set by the parks director. Signs erected giving notice of the playground speed zone shall include reasonable notice of the spray water park operating hours or notice that the spray water park is in operation. The use of flashing lights on signage indicating the playground speed limit is in force shall be deemed reasonable under this subsection. (Ord. 3533 § 1, 2011).

10.50.060 Riverside Drive – Thirty miles per hour.

The speed limit of that section of Riverside Drive starting at the Fir Street and Riverside Drive intersection and extending to the city limits at the Skagit River shall be 30 miles per hour where signs are posted. (Ord. 3628 § 1, 2014).
