Article I. Social Security

2.28.010 Participation authorized.

The municipality shall become a participant in the Social Security System and the benefits of old age and survivor’s insurance shall be extended to its employees and officers. (Ord. 243, 1951)

2.28.020 Approval.

The mayor and city clerk/treasurer are authorized to execute and deliver to the Washington Department of Employment Security for its approval of the plan or plans required under the provisions of Section 5 of the enabling act and of the Social Security Act to extend coverage to the employees and officers of the municipality and to do all other things necessary to that end. (Ord. 243, 1951)

2.28.030 Payments and deductions authorized.

The proper fiscal officers are authorized to make all required payments into the contribution fund established by the enabling act and to establish such system of payroll deductions from the salaries of employees and officers as may be necessary to their coverage under such old age and survivors’ insurance system. (Ord. 243, 1951)

2.28.040 Continued implementation.

The proper officials of the municipality shall do all things necessary to the continued implementation of said system. (Ord. 243, 1951)

Article II. State Retirement System

2.28.050 Participation authorized.

The city authorizes and approves the membership and participation of its eligible employees in the Washington Public Employees Retirement System pursuant to RCW 41.40.410, and authorizes the expenditure of the necessary funds to cover its proportionate share for participation in said system. (Ord. 377 § 1, 1972)
