2.76.010 Establishment of committee –Eligibility.

There is hereby created an economic development committee which shall consist of five or more members. Two members of the committee shall be members of the city council. A third member of the committee shall be an officer or other designated representative of the chamber of commerce. Those three committee members are then free to select two or more other members who are persons in the community interested in economic development in the city. Committee members are required to be 18 years of age, but are not required to reside within the city limits. Committee members shall not receive compensation for his or her service on the economic development committee, but may be reimbursed for expenses incurred doing committee work, when reimbursement of said expenses is preapproved by the mayor or city finance director. 2.76.020 Term of committee members.

The term of committee members that are also city council members shall be for a period of two years. The terms of the noncouncil committee members shall be indefinite and shall serve until such time as said committee members either resign or are removed from the committee by a more majority vote of the other committee members. (Ord. 940 § 3, 2000)

2.76.030 Organization and meetings.

After the appointment of the initial committee, members of the committee shall meet and organize. The chairman of the committee shall be designated by the mayor. It shall be the duty of the chairman to preside at all meetings of the committee and to represent the committee at city council meetings. A secretary shall be appointed and it shall be the responsibility of the secretary to keep minutes of the committee meetings. A majority of the committee constitutes a quorum for the transaction of business and a minimum of three affirmative votes shall be necessary to pass and/or carry propositions before the committee. The committee shall meet as often as the committee determines is necessary, but shall meet at least monthly in the council chambers, or at such other location as the committee members shall agree. 2.76.040 Duties and responsibilities.

The economic development committee shall have the duty and be responsible to assess the industrial and commercial development potential within the city; determine what infrastructure is needed in order to accommodate potential industrial and commercial development; make recommendations regarding property uses and zoning changes within the growth management areas designated by the city; establish contacts with other economic development committees and boards in central Washington and the state of Washington; seek information regarding grants and other funding for economic development within the city. 2.76.050 Budget and annual report.

The economic development committee shall be responsible to coordinate with the mayor and city finance director regarding the budgeting of monies for activities of the economic development committee. The chairman of the committee may present an annual budget to the city council outlining the activities of the committee and the projected expenses of said activities. Said report shall be submitted to the city finance director in November of each year. (Ord. 940 § 6, 2000)
