3.12.010 Regular City elections.

Annually, on the first Tuesday in October, a regular election shall be held in the City for the election of municipal offices which are to become vacant and for the determination of such other matters as may be placed on the ballot by the Council. (Ord. 05-09 § 2, 2005)

3.12.020 Special elections.

A.    Special elections may be called by resolution of the City Council.

B.    Notice of special elections shall be given pursuant to NPMC 3.12.050. (Ord. 05-09 § 2, 2005)

3.12.030 Polling place.

The polling place for all municipal elections shall be the place designated in accordance with State law. (Ord. 05-09 § 2, 2005)

3.12.040 Hours of opening and closing polls.

At all elections held under the provisions of this chapter, the polls shall be opened at 7:00 a.m. and closed at 8:00 p.m. (Ord. 05-09 § 2, 2005)

3.12.050 Notice of election.

A.    The City Clerk shall post a notice of election in three public places in the City at least twenty days preceding the election. The notice shall also be published in a newspaper of general circulation at least twice preceding the election. Such publications shall occur at least twenty days preceding the election.

B.    Each notice of election shall include:

1.    The type of election, regular or special;

2.    The date of the election;

3.    The location of the polling places;

4.    The time of opening and closing the polling place;

5.    The offices to which candidates are to be elected;

6.    The propositions to be voted upon;

7.    Voter qualifications and instructions for registration; and

8.    Instructions for application for absentee voting. (Ord. 05-09 § 2, 2005)
