3.20.010 Appointment of election officials.

A.    The Clerk shall be the election supervisor and shall administer all City elections in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

B.    Before each regular election the Borough Clerk shall provide election officials.

C.    Before each special election, the City Clerk shall select qualified electors of the City to serve on the election board. One person shall be designated as chairman and the remaining three as clerks. If any member of the election board so appointed fails or refuses to serve or attend at the time and place appointed, the City Clerk shall choose a qualified elector to serve in the absentee’s place.

D.    Before each election, the Clerk shall select at least three qualified electors of the City to serve as the election canvass board.

E.    A qualified elector of the City may serve on both the election board and canvass board. City Council members, candidates, and members of a candidate’s immediate family shall not serve as election officials. (Ord. 05-09 § 2, 2005)

3.20.020 Oath of election officials.

All election officials before entering upon their duties must subscribe to the oath required of all public officers by the Constitution of the State of Alaska in the manner prescribed by the City Clerk.

3.20.030 Compensation of election officials.

Compensation for special election officials shall be determined by the City Council at the time of appointment. (Ord. 05-09 § 2, 2005)
