10.08.010 Maximum gross weight restrictions.

Unless expressly designated as a truck route pursuant to EMC 10.08.020, the use of all streets within the limits of the City of Escalon is prohibited by any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of five tons, excepting any vehicle which is subject to the provisions of Sections 1031 to 1036, inclusive, of the California Public Utilities Code, and excepting any commercial vehicle where necessary for the purpose of making pickups and deliveries of goods, wares and merchandise from or to any building or structure or for the purpose of delivering materials to be used in the actual and bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling or construction of any building or structure for which a building permit has previously been obtained therefor. 10.08.020 Truck routes designated.

The following streets are designated as the City of Escalon’s truck routes, as shown in the map below, without restrictions as to weight limits:

A. State Highway 120 (Jackson Avenue/Yosemite Avenue);

B. Escalon Avenue (Escalon-Bellota);

C. McHenry Avenue.

10.08.030 Posting of signs.

It is determined that notice of this chapter will best be given by posting the streets designated in EMC 10.08.020 as truck routes. It shall be the duty of the chief of police of the city to post or cause to be posted the streets herein designated as truck routes. (Ord. 419 § 1, 1995; Ord. 31 § 3, 1958)

10.08.040 Violation – Penalty.
