6.12.010 Regulations—Need declaration.

The public health, convenience and necessity require that regulations be established in order to protect the sanitary sewerage pumping, treatment and disposal system of the district and to provide a means of disposal of garbage. (Ord. 15 § 1, 1963)

6.12.020 Regulations—Generally.

Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, it is unlawful for any person to transport, place, deposit or permit to be deposited upon public or private property within the district, or in any area under the jurisdiction of the district, solid wastes from the preparation, cooking and dispensing of food and from the handling, storage and sale of produce, referred to in this chapter as “garbage.” (Ord. 15 § 2, 1963)

6.12.030 Garbage disposal unit—Required for residential units.

Each residential unit containing facilities for the preparation and cooking of food which is designed for occupancy by a single family, including each unit of a multi-family dwelling, shall have installed and maintained therein a device for the shredding of garbage, referred to in this chapter as a “garbage disposal unit.” (Ord. 15 § 3, 1963)

6.12.040 Garbage disposal unit—Required for commercial establishments when.

Each establishment or institution which in the course of its business produces garbage, including, but not limited to, restaurants, grocery stores, produce markets and handlers, shall have installed and maintained thereon one or more garbage disposal units and such other protective devices as may, in the opinion of the district engineer, be necessary. 6.12.050 Garbage disposal unit—Requirements.

Each garbage disposal unit shall be of a type approved by the district engineer and found by him to be adequate for the proposed use. No person shall make an installation pursuant to Section 6.12.040 without first obtaining a special permit from the district engineer approving the specific equipment to be used. (Ord. 15 § 5, 1963)

6.12.060 Disposal of deleterious substances.

Any garbage which would have a deleterious effect in the functioning of the garbage disposal unit or on the sanitary sewerage system of the district may be deposited and disposed of in the manner provided for the depositing and disposal of rubbish, as heretofore or hereafter set forth in the rules and regulations of the district.
