15.10.020    Purpose.

15.10.010 Adoption of the California Existing Building Code.

The 2022 California Existing Building Code (Part 10 of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations), including Chapter 1, Division II “Scope and Administration,” based on the 2021 International Existing Building Code as published by the International Code Council, is adopted by reference. One complete copy of the same is on file and is open for inspection by the public in the office of the city clerk and designated as the existing building code for the city of Highland. The building official is hereby designated the authority charged with the administration and enforcement of this code. (Ord. 457 § 4, 2022; Ord. 438 § 5, 2019)

15.10.020 Purpose.

The purpose of this code is to prescribe regulations for the repair, alteration, change of occupancy, addition to and relocation of existing buildings and to provide flexibility to permit the use of alternative approaches to achieve compliance with minimum requirements and safeguards for continued use.
