COUNTY HEALTH CODE:

9-2.1 County Health Code Adopted; Exceptions; Amendments:

a. Except as provided in subsection 9-2.1b of this section, there is hereby adopted by the city council, the Public Health Code of the county of Los Angeles, as promulgated by county ordinance 7583, three (3) copies of which code are on file in the office of the city clerk.

b. The following sections of the health code adopted by subsection 9-2.1a of this section are excluded from adoption, and subsection 9-2.1a of this section shall not be construed to adopt the following sections:

1. 110.

2. 508.

3. 510.

4. 511.

5. 534.

6. 535.

7. 536.

8. 537.

9. 538.

10. 542.

c. The following county ordinances amending the health code are hereby adopted:

1. 7616.

2. 7674.

3. 8095.

4. 8200.

5. 8234.

6. 8425.

7. 8588.

8. 8614.

9. 9375.

10. 10075, amending Sections 504.1, 504.2, 504.3, 509, 519, 523, 523.1, 523.2, 523.3 and 525 of the Code adopted in subsection a.

9-2.2 Definitions:

In addition to the definitions contained in sections 301 to 319, inclusive, of the health code adopted in this Section, there are further defined the following terms:

Fowl shall mean a large or edible bird and shall not be deemed to include caged birds.

Private or parochial boarding school shall mean any institution providing room and board and giving a course of training similar to that given in any grade of public school or college, but shall not include any establishment maintained by a public school or college.

Racing, homing pigeons shall mean a pigeon trained to return home from a distance. Racing, homing pigeons are such as can be identified by seamless leg bands issued by the American Racing Pigeon Union and “A.U.” and the figures designating the year issued. (Code 1972 §14-3)

9-2.3 Rules For Construction:

The following rules shall govern the interpretation of the County health code adopted in this Section:

a. Whenever the word “County”, or any abbreviation thereof, appears in the health code, it shall be interpreted and deemed to mean the word, “City”.

b. Whenever the words “Los Angeles”, or any abbreviation thereof, appear in the health code, they shall be interpreted and deemed to mean the word, “Lynwood”.

c. Whenever there is a conflict between any of the provisions of the health code and other express provisions of this Code or other City ordinances heretofore or hereafter adopted relating specifically to the same subject matter, the latter shall prevail.

d. The definition or regulation of any activity, condition or structure in the health code shall not be interpreted or deemed to permit or allow the conduct of any such activity or the construction or maintenance of any such condition or structure as may be otherwise prohibited or restricted by any other express provision of this Code or other City ordinances heretofore or hereafter adopted.
