5.04.010 Short title.

The ordinance codified in this title shall be known as the “business license ordinance of the City of Mt. Shasta,” and may be referred to as such. (Ord. 407 § 2, 1983)

5.04.020 Purpose.

(A) The purpose of this title is to license for regulation of the carrying on in the City of Mt. Shasta of various lawful businesses, professions, trades, callings, and/or occupations. Where it is lawful to license for purpose of regulation only, then the license hereunder is for that purpose.

(B) This title is enacted solely for the purpose of regulation and revenue.

(C) This chapter is enacted solely to raise revenue for municipal purposes, and is not intended for regulation. In case of undue hardship arising from the enforcement and operation of the provision hereinafter contained such as occasional employment, small part-time employment, or other unforeseen causes, a licensee may apply to the City Council of the City of Mt. Shasta for such relief or adjustment as the City Council may see fit to grant. (Ord. 407 §§ 1, 8, 61, 1983)

5.04.030 Compliance.

Unless the context otherwise requires, the general privileges hereinafter set forth shall govern the construction of this title. (Ord. 407 § 3, 1983)

5.04.040 Exercise of powers and duties.

Whenever a power is granted to, or a duty imposed upon, any person by any provision of this title, it may be exercised or performed by any deputy or person authorized by him/her, unless it is expressly provided that it shall be exercised in person. (Ord. 407 § 5, 1983)

5.04.050 Effect of construction.

Chapter headings, sections, or subdivisions shall not in any manner affect the scope, meaning or intent of the provisions of this title. (Ord. 407 § 4, 1983)
