10.04.010 Generally.

Whenever in this title the following terms are used, they shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this chapter. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.020 Street.

“Street” means every way set apart for public travel except alleyways, bridle paths and foot paths. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.030 Roadway.

“Roadway” means that portion of a street between the regularly established curb lines. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.040 Alley.

“Alley” means a public highway which does not exceed 20 feet between property lines. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.050 Sidewalk.

“Sidewalk” means that portion of a street between the curb lines and the adjacent property lines. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.060 Intersection.

“Intersection” means the area embraced within the prolongation of the property lines of two or more streets which join at an angle, whether or not one such street crosses the other. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.070 Crosswalk.

“Crosswalk” means that portion of the roadway included within the prolongation of curb and property lines at street intersections. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.080 Safety zone.

“Safety zone” means that marked portion of a roadway reserved for the exclusive use of pedestrians. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.090 Loading zone.

“Loading zone” means that space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.100 Vehicle.

“Vehicle” means every device or animal by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a street, excepting devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon rails. For the purpose of this title, a bicycle shall be deemed a vehicle. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.110 Pedestrian.

“Pedestrian” means any person afoot. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.120 Operator.

“Operator” means any person who is in actual physical control of a vehicle. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.130 Traffic.

“Traffic” means pedestrians and vehicles, either singly or together, while using any street for purposes of travel. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.140 Central traffic district.

“Central traffic district” means that portion of this City hereafter described or designated as such by the City Council. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.150 Business district.

“Business district” means the territory contiguous to a street when 50 percent or more of the frontage thereon for a distance of 300 feet or more is occupied by buildings in use for retail or wholesale business, also any territory contiguous to a street which is immediately adjacent to or a continuation of a street within a business district when such territory is so designated by the City Council. 10.04.160 Right-of-way.

“Right-of-way” means the privilege of the immediate use of the street. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.170 Park.

“Park” means to stand a vehicle for a period of time greater than is reasonably necessary for the actual loading or unloading of persons or materials. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)

10.04.180 Official warning and direction signs and signals.

“Official warning and direction signs and signals” means all warning and direction signs and signals not inconsistent with this title theretofore or hereafter placed or erected under this title or by authority of the City Council. (Ord. 73 § 1, 1928)
