INTERSECTION STOPS

10.36.010 Special stops – Intersections designated.

Every operator of a vehicle proceeding along certain designated streets in a designated direction and approaching a street intersection where stop signs have been posted and where special stops are required, as such intersections and directions of travel are herein described, or at such additional special stop intersections as may hereafter be designated as such by resolution of the City Council, shall bring such vehicle to a complete stop at the place and prior to the point where the street herein or is later designated as traveled stop street enters the street designated intersection street along the direction of travel.

10.36.020 Additional intersections.

In addition to the foregoing designated intersections where special stops are required, the City Council shall have the power from time to time to designate by resolution such additional intersections where special stops are to be required, and upon such designation and upon emplacement of signs showing the intersection as requiring a stop, it shall be unlawful for any driver of a motor vehicle to proceed through the designated stop intersection without coming to a full stop as required. 10.36.030 Special stop intersections.

It shall be the duty of the City Director of Public Works, in cooperation with the Chief of Police, to place and maintain signs at all intersections designated as special stop intersections, and such signs shall be in accordance with MSMC 10.12.020 and shall comply with Cal. Veh. Code §§ 21351, 21354, 21360 and 21400. (Ord. 226 § 3, 1964)

10.36.040 Boulevard markings.

The Chief of Police or any other person acting under the authority of the City Council is hereby authorized and required to place and maintain or cause to be placed and maintained upon each and every street intersecting a boulevard and at or near the property line of the boulevard appropriate signs upon the street or devices or marks in the roadway, such signs, devices or marks to bear the word “Stop,” or the words “Boulevard Stop,” in such a position and with letters of a size to be clearly legible from a distance of 50 feet along the street intersecting the boulevard.
