12.08.030 Driving Through Funeral Procession.

No person shall drive a vehicle between vehicles comprising a funeral procession while they are in motion and when the vehicles in such procession are conspicuously so designated. (1949 Code § 3255 as amended by Ord. 1069: December 9, 1963)

12.08.050 Driving on Sidewalk.

No person shall drive a vehicle upon any sidewalk area or any parkway except at a permanent or temporary driveway; provided, however, that agents or employees of the City acting in the scope of their agency or employment may drive on sidewalks for the purpose of providing municipal services. 12.08.060 Crossing New Pavement or Markings.

No person shall ride or drive any animal or any vehicle over or across any newly made pavement or freshly painted marking in any street when a barrier or sign is in place warning persons not to drive over or across such pavement or marking, or when a sign is in place stating that the street or any portion thereof is closed. 12.08.070 Entering and Leaving Limited Access Roadway.

No person shall drive a vehicle onto or from any limited access roadway except at such entrances and exits as are established by public authority. (1949 Code § 3259)

12.08.100 Riding Vehicles on Piers Prohibited.*

No person shall operate or drive bicycles or motorcycles in or upon any public pier in the City. (1949 Code § 3295.4)

12.08.120 Driving, Riding or Parking on Beach Prohibited.

No person except an employee of a public agency, a public utility, or a contractor of either, in the course of such employment, shall ride in or upon, or operate, drive or park any vehicle upon that portion of the City commonly known and designated as the beach, and which is the strip of land lying between the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the southerly line of Ocean Front. 12.08.135 Cruising Prohibited.

A.    The ranking peace officer within any area affected by traffic congestion may establish traffic control points to regulate cruising. “Cruising” is defined to mean the driving of a motor vehicle past a traffic control point established on a portion of any street identified as subject to cruising controls by signs posted at the beginning and end of the controlled roadway that briefly and clearly state the appropriate provisions of this section and California Vehicle Code Section 21100(k), and after the operator of the vehicle has been given the notice specified in this section. The ranking peace officer on duty within the area affected by traffic congestion shall be empowered to post the signs required by this section.

B.    Any person who drives a motor vehicle past any traffic control point established by the ranking peace officer on duty within the affected area, on a portion of any street identified as subject to cruising controls as specified in subsection (A), may be given written notice that further driving past the control point will be a violation of this section.

C.    No person, having driven a motor vehicle past a traffic control point established pursuant to this section within any six-hour period, and having received written notice that further driving past the traffic control point will constitute a violation of this section, shall again drive past that control point while cruising controls are in effect. Each successive trip past the traffic control point shall constitute a separate violation of this section, and no additional notice shall be required prior to issuance of second or subsequent citations.
