VOLUNTEER MARINE RESCUE UNIT

9.68.010 CREATION – PURPOSE.

A volunteer marine rescue unit is hereby established for the purpose of performing marine water rescues and publicizing and promoting water safety.

9.68.020 NAME.

The official name of this organization shall be the Volunteer Marine Rescue Unit.

9.68.030 QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP.

Qualifications for membership in said rescue units shall be determined by written standards established by the city manager or his/her designated representative. No person shall participate in drills or rescue without proper certification by the city manager. The city manager shall investigate all applications, and qualified applicants shall be certified for specific duties.

9.68.040 DUTIES.

Members shall attend drills and training sessions in order to further the purposes set forth in this chapter, as directed by the city manager or his/her representative.

9.68.050 COMPENSATION.

Members of the rescue unit shall receive as compensation for their attendance at drills or operations performed in accordance with this chapter, such amount as may be fixed by the city council of the city from time to time.

9.68.060 MONTHLY REPORTS.

The city manager or a designated senior member of the unit shall prepare a written monthly report on the activities of the volunteer marine rescue unit.
