This chapter constitutes the Wildland-Urban Interface Code of the city of Santa Cruz.

19.30.020 WILDLAND-URBAN INTERFACE CODE ADOPTED.
The following documents are hereby adopted as part of the Wildland-Urban Interface Code of the city of Santa Cruz:
California Code of Regulations Title 24, Part 7, the 2025 California Wildland-Urban Interface Code.
One complete and up-to-date copy of the above document is and shall be maintained in the office of the building official, for use and examination by the public.

19.30.030 WILDLAND-URBAN INTERFACE CODE DELETIONS AND MODIFICATIONS.
The following section of the Wildland-Urban Interface Code as adopted in Section 19.30.020 is hereby modified as follows:
Section 503.1 of the California Wildland-Urban Interface Code is amended to read as follows:
Buildings and structures hereafter constructed, modified, or relocated into or within wildland-urban interface areas shall meet the construction requirements in accordance with Chapter 5. Materials required to be ignition-resistant building materials shall comply with the requirements of Section 503.2.
Exceptions:
1. New accessory buildings and miscellaneous structures complying with Section 504.11.
2. Group C occupancy special buildings conforming to the limitations specified in Section 450.4.1 of the California Building Code.

19.30.040 GENERAL.
(a) General. The fire marshal, the chief building official, or their respective designees are hereby authorized to enforce the provisions of this code.
(b) Determination of Compliance. The fire marshal, the chief building official, or their respective designees shall have authority to determine compliance with this code, to render interpretations of this code and to adopt policies and procedures in order to clarify the application of its provisions. Such interpretations, policies and procedures shall be in compliance with the intent and purpose of this code and shall not have the effect of waiving requirements specifically provided for in this code.
(c) Applications and Permits. The fire marshal, the chief building official, or their respective designees are authorized to receive applications, review construction documents and issue permits for construction regulated by this code, issue permits for operations regulated by this code, inspect the premises for which such permits have been issued and enforce compliance with the provisions of this code.

19.30.050 PENALTIES.
Any person, firm, or corporation violating any provisions of this chapter shall be subject to the penalties provided in Title 4 or alternatively delineated in the Santa Cruz County superior court uniform bail and penalty schedule for the city of Santa Cruz.
