BUILDING CONSERVATION CODE*

8-10.01    Adoption of the California Existing Building Code.

*    Chapter 10 entitled “Swimming Pools” added by Ordinance No. 362 C-M, effective October 10, 1975, repealed in its entirety by Ordinance No. 1227-07 (CM), effective January 1, 2008. A new Chapter 10 entitled “Building Conservation Code” is added by Ordinance No. 1229-07 (CM), effective January 1, 2008.

    Chapter 10 entitled “Building Conservation Code,” consisting of Section 8-10.01, codified from Ordinance No. 1229-07 (CM), eff. January 1, 2008, repealed by Ordinance No. 1271-10 (CM), eff. January 1, 2011.

    Chapter 10, consisting of Section 8-10.01, codified from Ordinance No. 1271-10 (CM), effective January 1, 2011, was repealed and replaced by Ordinance No. 1297-13 (CM), effective January 1, 2014.

    Chapter 10, consisting of Section 8-10.01, codified from Ordinance No. 1297-13 (CM), effective January 1, 2014, was repealed and replaced by Ordinance No. 1341-16 (CM), effective January 1, 2017.

8-10.01 Adoption of the California Existing Building Code.

The 2016 California Building Code (Part 10 of Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations) is adopted as the Building Conservation Code of the City of Watsonville.

(a)    The following provisions are hereby rejected and not adopted:

(1)    Chapter A4, Earthquake Risk Reduction in Wood-Frame Residential Buildings with Soft, Weak or Open Front Walls;

(2)    Chapter A6, Referenced Standards.

(b)    The following appendix is hereby specifically adopted:

(1)    Chapter A3, Prescriptive Provisions for Seismic Strengthening of Cripple Walls and Sill Plate Anchorage of Light, Wood-Frame Residential Buildings.
