2.05.010 Qualifications.

The mayor shall be a qualified elector who has resided within the limits of the town for a period of at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election; provided, that in case of annexation, any person who has resided in the annexed territory for the time prescribed shall be deemed to have met the residence requirements for the town to which the territory was annexed. The mayor shall reside in the town of Granby during the term hereof. When the mayor ceases to reside within the limits of the town, he or she may be removed from office pursuant to this section, by a majority vote of all members of the board of trustees. 2.05.020 Term of office.

The mayor shall be elected to serve a four-year term at the regular election every four years. [Amended during 2011 recodification; Code 1999 § 2-2-2].

2.05.030 Powers and duties.

(a) The mayor shall preside over the meetings of the board of trustees, and shall perform such duties as may be required of him by statute and the provisions of this code or other ordinances of the town.

(b) Insofar as required by statute, and for all ceremonial purposes, the mayor shall be the executive head of the town. He shall be the presiding officer of the board of trustees. He shall be considered a member of the board of trustees and shall have the same voting powers as other trustees.

(c) He shall execute and authenticate, by his signature, such instruments as the trustees or any statutes or ordinances shall require.

(d) The mayor shall supervise the activities of the town manager on a day-to-day basis and shall advise, coordinate and direct the town manager with respect to the necessity of contacting the other members of the board of trustees with respect to any of the activities carried on by the town manager.

(e) Except as may be required by statute, the mayor shall exercise only such powers as the trustees shall specifically confer upon him. [Ord. 361, 1984. Code 1999 § 2-2-3].

2.05.040 Mayor pro tem.

At its first meeting following each election, the board of trustees shall choose one of the trustees as mayor pro tem who, in the absence of the mayor from any meeting of the board or during the mayor’s absence from the town or his inability to act, shall perform the duties of mayor. 2.05.050 Acting mayor.

In the event of the absence or disability of both the mayor and the mayor pro tem, the trustees may designate another of their number to serve as acting mayor during such absence or disability. [Code 1999 § 2-2-5].

2.05.060 Compensation.

The compensation to be paid to the mayor of the town of Granby, Colorado, shall be $800.00 per month during his/her term of office. [Ord. 656 § 1, 2006; Ord. 599 § 1, 2003; Ord. 491 § 1, 1999. Code 1999 § 2-2-6].

2.05.070 Oath.

Before entering upon the duties of the office, the mayor shall take an oath or affirmation of office. [Ord. 239, 1974. Code 1999 § 2-2-7].
