4-20-1 DEFINITIONS:

 

SELF-SERVICE STORAGE FACILITY:

A nonhabitable building or group of buildings under single ownership or management, consisting of individual, self-contained units that are leased or rented for storage of business goods, household goods, and/or contractor’s supplies. Sometimes referred to as ministorage or miniwarehouse. A self-service storage facility shall not include storage yards or storage yards for recreational vehicles as defined in section 8-7A-1 of this code. (Ord. 922-10, 4-26-2010)

4-20-2 LESSEE/RENTER INFORMATION TO BE KEPT:

It is unlawful for any person who owns or manages a self-service storage facility to operate such a facility without keeping a register or log, indexed by storage unit number, which includes all the information as specified herein. All persons leasing or renting a self-service storage unit shall provide the owner or manager of the facility the lessee’s name, address and telephone number. It shall be the duty of the person leasing the unit to confirm the identity of the person(s) registering from a validly issued government identification card. If the lessee is a business or association, one person must be identified as being responsible for the use of the unit and provide his or her name, address and telephone number to the owner or manager of the facility. It shall be the duty of the owner or manager of the facility to confirm the lessee’s identity from a validly issued government identification card. (Ord. 922-10, 4-26-2010)

4-20-3 REGISTER USE:

Such a register or log shall be kept current on a month to month basis and kept in the facility’s business office. The facility’s owner or manager shall make the register or log available for inspection by law enforcement officials at all times. (Ord. 922-10, 4-26-2010)

4-20-4 PENALTY:

Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as provided for in section 1-4-1 of this code. (Ord. 922-10, 4-26-2010)
