13.44.010 Created.

The Orovada rural fire protection district was created by the Humboldt County board of commissioners on July 5, 1960, by resolution pursuant to NRS Chapter 474, after voters in the proposed district approved the creation of the fire protection district and elected the initial three members of the board of directors of the district in a special election on June 23, 1960. 13.44.020 Boundaries.

The boundaries of the district are as follows:

Beginning at the Southwest corner of Township 41 North, Range 36 East, M.D.B.&M.; thence along the range line in a northerly direction a distance of twenty-four (24) miles to the Northwest corner of Township 44 North, Range 36 East; thence in an easterly direction on the township line a distance of fifteen (15) miles to the Northeast corner of Section 4, Township 44 North, Range 38 East; thence in a southernly direction along the section line a distance of twelve (12) miles to the Southeast corner of Section 33, Township 43 North, Range 38 East; thence in a westerly direction along the township line a distance of three (3) miles to the Southeast corner of Township 43 North, Range 37 East; thence in a southerly direction along the range line a distance of twelve (12) miles to the Southeast corner of Township 41 North, Range 37 East; thence in a westerly direction along the township line a distance of twelve (12) miles to the point of beginning.

13.44.030 Directors—Appointment, terms and compensation.

A. Pursuant to NRS 244.1645, the Orovada rural fire protection district shall be governed by a board of directors consisting of three members and the directors shall be appointed by the Humboldt County board of county commissioners instead of being elected by the voters within the boundaries of the district.

B. The appointment procedure shall be established by the board of county commissioners.

C. The term of appointment for each seat on the board of directors is as follows:

1. Seat A term of appointment shall continue until the first Monday in January 2025 and every four years thereafter.

2. Seat B term of appointment shall continue until the first Monday in January 2027 and every four years thereafter.

3. Seat C term of appointment shall continue until the first Monday in January 2025 and every four years thereafter.

D. Each appointed director may be reappointed to any number of additional terms.

E. If a vacancy occurs in a seat on the board of directors, the board of county commissioners shall fill the vacant seat by appointment for the remainder of the unexpired term.

F. Directors shall serve on the governing board of the district without compensation. (Ord. 11-06-23a § 1)
