2.32.010 Findings.

Inasmuch as the city presently has no police reserve to call upon in time of disaster or emergency, it is desirable that the police force be enlarged for the protection of the citizens and property of the city. (Ord. 29 § 5, 1965)

2.32.020 Authorized.

The chief of police of the city is authorized to organize a Lincoln City police reserve for the city, said police reserve to consist of not more than 12 in number, to serve without compensation, and to be residents of the city or to live within a distance of five miles of the city limits of the city. (Ord. 29 § 1, 1965)

2.32.030 Appointment and removal.

A. The chief of police of the city is authorized to provide and furnish forms for signature by applicants for membership in the police reserve of the city, and the selection for membership shall be made by such chief of police.

B. Any member of the Lincoln City police reserve may be removed by the chief of police with or without cause. (Ord. 29 § 2, 1965)

2.32.040 Oath of office – Powers and duties.

Any applicant selected for service in the police reserve of the city shall take and subscribe to the oath of office required of police officers of the city, and shall be subject to the directions and orders of the chief of police of the city and shall, during such service, have the powers and duties of a regular police officer of the city. (Ord. 29 § 3, 1965)

2.32.050 Badges.

Membership and authority as a member of the police reserve of the city shall be indicated by arm bands and/or appropriate insignia and badges to be designated, selected and furnished by the police department of the city. (Ord. 29 § 4, 1965)
