10.20.010 Purpose – Authority.

The residents of the city of Pilot Rock have become accustomed to the use of Class I and Class II all-terrain vehicles in pursuit of their normal daily activity. The residents have a strong desire to continue such use of said Class I and Class II all-terrain vehicles as per ORS 821.200(2)(c). [Ord. 476 § 1A, 2000].

10.20.020 Licensed driver over 18.

Class I and Class II all-terrain vehicles operated under this chapter must be operated by a licensed driver over 18 years in conformance with ORS 801.245 and 811.255. [Amended during 2011 codification; Ord. 476 § 2A, 2000].

10.20.030 Safety equipment.

Class I and Class II all-terrain vehicles operated under this chapter must comply with all safety equipment requirements under ORS 821.030 and to all general motor vehicle operation under ORS Chapter 815, exception seat belts (ORS 815.055) and windshield wipers (ORS 815.215).

(1) Anyone under 16 must have a helmet.

(2) Children under 16 must be secured by a safety harness or safety belt on Class I or Class II all-terrain vehicles. [Amended during 2011 codification; Ord. 476 § 3A, 2000].

10.20.040 Conformance with traffic laws.

Class I and Class II all-terrain vehicles must be operated in conformance to rules of the road as per ORS Chapter 811. [Ord. 476 § 4A, 2000].

10.20.050 Financial responsibility.

Class I and Class II all-terrain vehicles must meet financial responsibility requirements under ORS 806.060. [Ord. 476 § 4B, 2000].

10.20.060 Allowed on city streets.

A Class I and Class II all-terrain vehicle may be operated on any street within the city limits of the city of Pilot Rock, subject to conditions and restrictions of ORS 821.200. Class I and Class II all-terrain vehicles are prohibited on Highway 395 per ORS. [Amended during 2011 codification; Ord. 476, 2000].
