ADA ADVISORY COMMITTEE

2.88.010 ESTABLISHED.

There is established an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Advisory Committee which will act solely as an advisory group to City departments and staff. (Ord. 5318 §1 (part), 2017)

2.88.020 MEMBERSHIP.

Committee membership shall function as follows:

(a)    The Committee will ideally consist of not more than ten (10) members.

(b)    The Committee shall operate in an ad hoc fashion, without formal appointment.

(c)    Persons with disabilities shall be encouraged to join the Committee and attend Committee meetings.

(d)    The ADA Coordinator shall be the Chairperson of the Committee. (Ord. 5318 §1 (part), 2017)

2.88.030 SALARIES AND PERSONAL EXPENSES.

The members of the Committee shall receive no salaries or other remuneration for their services in such capacity and shall not be entitled to reimbursement for personal expenses incurred by them in the discharge of their duties, except to the extent and purposes and amounts such expenses are authorized and approved in advance by the Mayor. 2.88.040 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

The Committee shall have the following specific functions:

(a)    Recommend appropriate modifications to City services, policies and practices to help implement the ADA.

(b)    Report to the ADA Coordinator its concerns, or concerns brought to it by others, regarding possible non-compliance with the ADA, and make advisory suggestions as to any action to be taken.

(c)    Assist the City in identifying the priority of issues related to the ADA, and assist in prioritizing improvements related to ADA transition planning. (Ord. 5318 §1 (part), 2017)

2.88.050 MEETINGS.

The Committee shall meet on an as-needed basis. (Ord. 5318 §1 (part), 2017)
