SNOW, ICE AND ASH REMOVAL

12.16.010 Snow and ice--Duty to remove from sidewalk.

It shall be the duty of the owner, occupant, lessee or agent of any property abutting upon any sidewalk in the city to keep the sidewalk in front of such abutting property free and clear from snow and ice.  (Prior code §11.12.010).

12.16.020 Snow and ice--Time limit--Noncompliance.

It is unlawful for the owner, occupant, lessee, or agent of any property abutting upon any sidewalk in the city to fail to remove or cause to be removed from the sidewalk in front of such abutting property all snow falling thereon within eight hours after the same has ceased falling; provided, however, that when the snow ceases falling after five p.m. it shall be removed from such sidewalk not later than ten a.m. the following morning, and it is unlawful for the owner, occupant, lessee, or agent of any property abutting upon any sidewalk in the city to fail to remove, or cause to be removed from such sidewalk in front of such abutting property all ice appearing, forming, or accumulating thereon, within eight hours after the first appearance of such ice on the sidewalk in front of such abutting property.  (Prior code §11.12.020).

12.16.030 Ash removal.

It is unlawful for the owner, occupant, lessee or agent of any property located within the city of Colfax to fail to remove from said property all volcanic ash and/or residue from Mt. St. Helens by July 31, 1980; and if said volcano or any other should erupt and again cover the city of Colfax with ash and/or residue, then said removal shall be within sixty days after said eruption.  (Ord. 1070 §1,1980).

12.16.040 Violation of Section 12.16.030--Penalty.

Any persons violating any or the provisions of Section 12.16.030 shall be deemed guilty of a civil infraction, and shall be fined in the sum of one hundred dollars for each and every day a violation occurs.  The city of Colfax shall have a lien against said property in the amount of fine imposed and shall foreclose on said lien according to law.  (Ord. 1070 §2, 1980:  prior code §11.12.030).
