COUNTY VEHICLES

2.38.010 Accounting.
All motor vehicles owned and operated by the county equipment rental and revolving fund registered in the name of the county shall be registered in the name of the “Douglas County E/R&R Fund” and the transfer of title of all equipment rental motor vehicles shall be administered by the county engineer. 2.38.020 Use.
The following policy regarding the use of county-owned vehicles is adopted:
A. No county employee shall use a county-owned vehicle for personal uses, except for commuting or de minimis personal use (such as a stop for a personal errand on the way between business and the employee’s home).
B. A person who is not presently employed by the county, unless specifically authorized by the board of county commissioners, shall not operate a county-owned vehicle.
C. Any employee using a county-owned vehicle for the purposes of commuting to and from work shall not use the vehicle for personal trips; except, that a brief stop for personal reasons during a commute or business-related trip is permitted.
D. Clearly marked police and unmarked vehicles used by law-enforcement officers are exempt from the IRS regulations. (Res. CE 85-76)
