10.20.010 General rules and regulations.

The rules and regulations set forth in this chapter are hereby established in connection with the use and operation of the Fircrest swimming pool and attendant facilities. (Ord. 551 § 1, 1966).

10.20.020 Membership card.

Entrance to the swimming pool area and use of the facilities thereof may be gained only upon presentation of a paid membership card belonging to the person requesting such admission, or payment of appropriate fees. (Ord. 551 § 1(a), 1966).

10.20.030 Use regulations.

The following shall be required of all persons using the pool:

(a) All swimmers must take a complete shower before entering the pool;

(b) Swimming suits are required (no cut-off jeans or other substitutes permitted);

(c) Persons must acquaint themselves with pool depths before entering pool;

(d) Those using diving area must be able to swim at least one length of the pool (25 yards);

(e) Children six years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult or responsible guardian;

(f) No snorkels, fins, or flotation devices will be allowed in the pool except during family swim sessions. (Ord. 1149 § 21, 1997; Ord. 551 § 1(b), 1966).

10.20.040 Prohibited behavior.

The following are prohibited:

(a) Running, pushing or scuffling in the pool or pool area;

(b) Glass structures or face masks in the pool or pool area;

(c) Playing on the life line dividing the diving and swimming areas;

(d) Diving from sides of pool or diving from other than front end of diving boards;

(e) Swimming in diving area except upon return to poolside after dive;

(f) Snorkel tubes in the pool;

(g) Occupancy of lifeguard chairs or stations by other than lifeguards or authorized personnel;

(h) Visiting with lifeguards while on duty;

(i) Unauthorized persons behind the counter in pool office;

(j) Possession or consumption of food or beverage of any kind on pool, deck or in pool dressing areas without the specific approval of the parks and recreation director. (Ord. 1149 § 22, 1997; Ord. 551 § 1(c), 1966).

10.20.050 Closing – Authority.

The parks and recreation director, or designee, shall have the authority to close the pool in the event of inclement weather or any other valid purpose for health reasons. (Ord. 1149 § 23, 1997; Ord. 551 § 1(d), 1966).

10.20.060 Violation – Removal.

The parks and recreation director and his or her duly authorized assistants in his or her absence may suspend and remove from the pool and pool area any person violating these rules or any other rule or regulation which has been established pursuant to FMC 10.04.010 or which conduct jeopardizes or tends to jeopardize the safety or enjoyment of others using the pool facilities. (Ord. 1149 § 24, 1997; Ord. 551 § 1(e), 1966).

10.20.070 Responsibility for group conduct.

Those in charge of groups visiting or using the pool facility shall be responsible for the conduct of all members of their group (life guard shall retain authority to supervise conduct and safety in the waters). Groups may be required to provide proof of liability insurance coverage as required by the parks and recreation director. (Ord. 1149 § 25, 1997; Ord. 551 § 1(f), 1966).
