DRUG-FREE ZONES

9.10.010 Designated.

(1) Chimacum. Jefferson County hereby designates a perimeter of 1,000 feet around the Chimacum School District No. 49, as delineated on the map attached to Ordinance No. 2-96, as a drug-free zone.

(2) Quilcene. Jefferson County hereby designates a perimeter of 1,000 feet around the Quilcene School District No. 48, as delineated on the map attached to Ordinance No. 4-97, as a drug-free zone.

(3) Brinnon. Jefferson County hereby designates a perimeter of 1,000 feet around the Brinnon School District No. 46, as delineated on the map attached to Ordinance No. 6-97, as a drug-free zone. [Ord. 6-97; Ord. 4-97; Ord. 2-96]

9.10.020 Violations.

(1) Any person who violates RCW 69.50.401 within the established drug-free zone which includes the area of a school, or that area within 1,000 feet of the perimeter of the school grounds, may be punished by a fine and/or imprisonment of up to twice the fine and/or imprisonment otherwise authorized in Chapter 69.50 RCW.

(2) Jefferson County hereby adopts the language of the amendments to RCW 69.50.435, enacted by Substitute Senate Bill 5140 of the 1995 Regular Session of the Washington State Legislature, defining the scope of violations subject to enhanced penalties within the drug-free zones designated herein.
