1.20.010 Designated observance for public offices.

The following are designated as legal holidays for the public offices of the city:

A. Sunday;

B. The first day of January, commonly called New Year's Day;

C. The third Monday of January, being celebrated as the anniversary of the birth of Martin Luther King, Jr.;

D. The third Monday of February, being celebrated as President's Day;

E. The last Monday of May, commonly known as Memorial Day;

F. The fourth day of July, being the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence;

G. The first Monday in September, to be known as Labor Day;

H. The eleventh day of November, to be known as Veterans' Day;

I. The fourth Thursday in November, to be known as Thanksgiving Day;

J. The day immediately following Thanksgiving Day; and

K. The 25th day of December, commonly called Christmas Day. (Ord. 3069 § 1, 1986; Ord. 2970 § 1, 1985)

1.20.020 Holidays falling on weekends.

A. Whenever any legal holiday, other than Sunday, falls upon a Sunday, the following Monday shall be the legal holiday.

B. Whenever any legal holiday falls upon a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be the legal holiday. (Ord. 3069 § 2, 1986; Ord. 2970 § 2, 1985)

1.20.030 Granted to city employees—Floating holiday.

Unless otherwise provided for by bargaining agreement, full-time regular city employees shall be granted the holidays designated in Section 1.20.010 of this chapter as holidays together with one paid floating holiday to be selected by the employee with the approval of the supervisor, after completion of one year of consecutive full-time service. 1.20.040 Business hours for city offices.

“City offices,” as used herein, means all offices of the city except the library. The city manager shall determine when city offices shall be kept open for the transaction of business. Said offices shall be open not less than eight hours per day on Monday through Friday of each week, except on holidays. The library hours will be set by the library board.
