2.44.010 Created—Composition.

There is created a department of the city known as the “Parks and Recreation Department,” which shall be under the supervision of the director of parks and recreation and shall be appointed by the city manager. (Ord. 2972 § 5(A), 1985)

2.44.020 Director—Powers and duties.

The powers and duties of the director of parks and recreation shall be:

A. To assign and supervise the work of all employees of the department;

B. To direct park construction projects and the propagation, planting and transplanting of trees, shrubs and flowers;

C. To direct and supervise the care and maintenance of park lawns, shrubbery, roads, buildings, playground equipment and other park properties and recreational facilities;

D. With the advice and counsel of the park board, to plan and administer a wide variety of recreation activities;

E. With the advice and counsel of the park board, to plan the physical layout and play areas of parks and recreation facilities and recommend the acquisition of new facilities;

F. To prepare and administer the annual budget for the parks and recreation department;

G. To perform such other duties as may be assigned by the city manager from time to time. (Ord. 2972 § 5(B), 1985)
