5.03.010 King County regulations adopted by reference. Revised 9/25

A. Chapters 6.64 and 6.65 of the King County Code, as currently enacted or hereafter amended or recodified, are hereby adopted by reference and shall be given the same force and effect as if set forth herein in full; except that, unless the context indicates otherwise, the word “county” and the words “King County” shall refer to the city and references to violations of the county code will be deemed references to violations of city code.

B. If a county code provision specifically adopted in this chapter refers to another county code provision not specifically adopted in this chapter, the code provision referred to shall be given the force and effect necessary to enforce the code provision specifically adopted in this chapter.

5.03.020 City of Kent general business license required. Revised 9/25

In addition to any licenses required by Chapter 6.64 or 6.65 of the King County Code, a person shall also obtain a general business license pursuant to Chapter 5.01 KCC when so required by the provisions of that chapter.

5.03.030 Delegation of licensing and enforcement authority. Revised 9/25

Pursuant to an interlocal agreement, King County is delegated the power to enforce the terms of Chapters 6.64 and 6.65 of the King County Code adopted herein by reference and conduct any associated administrative appeals. A copy of the interlocal agreement shall be made available by the city clerk’s office for use and examination by the public.

1. Enforcement. King County shall have the power to issue, deny, restrict, suspend, or revoke vehicle medallions, vehicle endorsements, for-hire driver’s licenses, for-hire driver’s permits, regional for-hire driver’s licenses and enhanced regional for-hire driver’s licenses, company licenses, and agency licenses issued thereunder.

2. Administrative appeals. King County shall also have the power to conduct administrative appeals of those county licensing and permitting determinations made, and enforcement actions taken on behalf of the city. Such appeals shall be conducted by the King County hearing examiner or the county’s successor administrative appeals body or officer on behalf of the city, unless the city or county determine that the particular matter shall be heard by the city.

3. Effect on general business license. Denial, suspension, or revocation of any King County license shall constitute grounds for the denial, suspension, or revocation of any related city general business license.
