8.20.010 Fire lanes authorized.

Fire lanes shall be established as fire apparatus access in accordance with the International Fire Code as adopted by the Mukilteo Municipal Code as is now and may be amended. (Ord. 1014 § 1 (part), 2000)

8.20.020 Duty to establish.

It shall be the duty of any and all owners, occupiers or others with a possessory interest in any real property to designate and maintain at all times fire lanes determined and specified by the fire chief in accordance with the International Fire Code as adopted by the Mukilteo Municipal Code as is now and may be amended. 8.20.030 Violation.

It shall be a violation to park or stand a vehicle in a designated fire lane, and it shall be a violation to place, store or park any other object, such as a dumpster, storage container or trailer, in a designated fire lane. (Ord. 1014 § 1 (part), 2000)

8.20.040 Enforcement.

A.    The Mukilteo police department is authorized to issue a notice of traffic infraction pursuant to RCW 46.63.030 as is now or hereafter amended, to vehicles parked in designated fire lanes.

B.    In situations involving an immediate risk or harm to people or property, the Mukilteo police department may impound any vehicle or obstruction found within a fire lane or within ten feet of any fire hydrant whether on public or private property; provided, such impoundment shall be in accordance with RCW 46.61.565 and the impound provisions of RCW 46.52.120 et seq., as each is now or hereafter amended.

C.    Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the chief officers of the Mukilteo fire department are authorized and directed to enforce all of the provisions of this chapter. For such purposes they shall have the powers of a police officer. (Ord. 1014 § 1 (part), 2000)

8.20.050 Penalty.

A.    Fire lane violations shall constitute a Class II civil infraction and be subject to the provisions contained in Mukilteo Municipal Code Chapter 1.32, General Penalties.

B.    Except as otherwise provided, violations of this chapter shall constitute a misdemeanor and be subject to the provisions contained in Mukilteo Municipal Code Chapter 1.32, General Penalties. (Ord. 1278 § 2, 2011; Ord. 1083 § 9, 2003: Ord. 1014 § 1 (part), 2000)
