12.02.010 General.

For the purposes of this title and to clarify the intent and meaning of certain words or terms, the following list of definitions is provided. All other words used in this title carry their customary meaning. Words in the present tense include the plural, and vice versa. (Ord. 1329 § 4 (Exh. A) (part), 2013)

12.02.020 Definitions.

“City” means city of Mukilteo or its clerk or its public works supervisor.

“Development approval” means the granting of a building permit, other city land use approval.

“Director of public works” means the director of public works for the city of Mukilteo or his/her designee. For the purposes of this title, “director of public works” and “director” shall be interchangeable.

“Official street map” is the map which is mounted and updated periodically by the city which identifies and illustrates the location of city streets used for access and property parcels.

“Person” includes any business or organization, public, private or charitable, as well as any individual.

“Public right-of-way” means all public streets and property granted or reserved for, or dedicated to, public use for streets, together with public property granted or reserved for, or dedicated to public use for walkways, sidewalks, bikeways, or planter areas, whether improved or unimproved, including the air rights, subsurface rights and easements related thereto.

“Unopened right-of-way use permit” means a permit issued pursuant to this title authorizing construction and permanent use of a privately maintained roadway within unopened or unmaintained city road right-of-way.

“Use” is used in this chapter to describe the construction, erection, storage, installations, removal or modification of any structure, improvements, materials or equipment on, over or under the public right-of-way and/or to use or occupy the public right-of-way for any purpose other than as a thoroughfare for any type of vehicle, or pedestrian traffic.
