9.58.010 Designated.

The following streets or portions of the city are designated to be motor truck routes:

(a)    Broadway Avenue, between State Highway No. 26 and the north city limits;

(b)    Columbia Street, Wahluke Street, Royal Street and Scooteny Street between Broadway Avenue and First Avenue;

(c)    All streets south of State Highway No. 26, between the south city limits and State Highway No. 26;

(d)    First Avenue, between State Highway No. 26 and Scooteny Street;

(e)    Main Street at Broadway Avenue west to city limits;

(f)    Main Street east of Highway No. 17. (Ord. 1593 § 2, 2023).

9.58.020 Operation of vehicles outside route boundaries—Violation.

A person is in violation of this chapter if he operates or drives a motor truck on a city lot, alley or street outside the boundaries of a designated motor truck route, when the motor truck is licensed for a gross weight of ten thousand pounds or more. A violation of this section is a C-11 civil penalty. (Ord. 1593 § 2, 2023).

9.58.030 Exemptions to Section 9.58.020.

Section 9.58.020 does not apply to or affect the following:

(a)    The operation of a motor truck when utilized in the process of making pickup or delivery of freight, merchandise, produce or commodities requiring a motor truck for the transportation of such cargo, at premises not located along a designated motor truck route;

(b)    The operation of a motor truck when it is operated or driven directly to or from an off-street parking facility of a city-licensed business or government unit or agency within a commercial zone or a manufacturing zone, not located along a designated truck route; or

(c)    A motor truck operated by the city to provide services or by public and/or private utilities operating under a city franchise. (Ord. 1593 § 2, 2023).

9.58.040 Parking vehicle outside route boundaries—Violation.

The registered owner of a motor truck which is parked or being stored, serviced or repaired on a lot, alley or street outside the boundaries of a designated truck route is in violation of this chapter when the motor truck is licensed for a gross weight of ten thousand pounds or more. A violation of this section is a C-11 civil penalty. (Ord. 1593 § 2, 2023).

9.58.050 Exemptions to Section 9.58.040.

Section 9.58.040 shall not apply to or affect the following:

(a)    A motor truck, parked in an off-street parking facility of a city-licensed business or governmental agency or unit within a commercial zone or a manufacturing zone; or

(b)    A motor truck when it is being loaded or unloaded of freight, merchandise, produce or commodities at premises not located along a designated truck route; or

(c)    A motor truck operated by the city to provide services or by public and/or private utilities operating under a city franchise. (Ord. 1593 § 2, 2023).
