COUNCIL SALARIES

2.05.010 Effective date.
The salaries of the elected city officials shall be as set forth in SMC 2.05.020, commencing October 1, 2018, and shall remain in effect until such time as the city council shall otherwise provide by ordinance. (Ord. 1296-18; Ord. 711-99)
2.05.020 Salaries set.
A. Mayor. One thousand five hundred dollars per month base salary plus $100.00 per meeting up to a maximum of five meetings per month excluding regular council meetings.
In addition, the mayor shall receive an additional $500.00 a month through December 31, 2019, to compensate for the extra time required to support the new city administrator and community development director. The salary shall not exceed $2,500 per month, through December 31, 2019.
Effective January 1, 2020, the salary for the mayor shall not exceed $2,000.
B. Council. Council salary is set by the salary commission. (Ord. 1296-18; Ord. 1214-15 § 1; Ord. 1126-11 § 1; Ord. 711-99)
2.05.030 Meetings defined.
Meetings shall include regularly scheduled council meetings, special council meetings, public hearings, council workshops, committee meetings and other city-related task forces or associations that the council member has been appointed to or requested to attend. A meeting begins when it is called to order, and it ends when it is so adjourned. (Ord. 1351-21 § 1; Ord. 1296-18; Ord. 711-99)
2.05.040 Deductions for nonattendance.
No compensation shall be paid to the mayor or council member who has an extended excused absence or disability that prevents attendance at all meetings during a calendar month. Pro-tem appointments during the mayor or council member’s absence shall receive the regular monthly salary for that position. (Ord. 1296-18; Ord. 711-99)
