HOLIDAYS, VACATION AND SICK LEAVE

2.78.050 Compensation/overtime.
2.78.010 Policy established.
The policy set forth in this chapter shall be the established policy for all employees working for the city on a full-time basis. (Ord. 1006 (part), 1989)
2.78.020 Sick leave.
Employees shall be allowed one day per month of sick leave for each month worked with a total maximum accumulation of three hundred sixty hours. The first day of illness shall be taken as a day of vacation. Further days of sickness shall be counted against the accumulated total. There will be no buy-out of sick leave upon termination or retirement. The mayor or immediate supervisor may request a doctor’s release before return to work is allowed. All current employees of more than one year will be grandfathered into this policy and sick leave will be credited accordingly, effective with the passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter. 2.78.030 Holidays.
The following days shall be considered as paid holidays for full-time employees:

Any days which the federal or state governments may in the future designate as holiday observances will automatically be included into the schedule. When a holiday falls on a Sunday the following Monday shall be the holiday. If the holiday falls on a Saturday then the Friday preceding shall be considered the holiday. The employee’s birthday must be taken within thirty days either side of the actual day. (Ord. 1006 § 2, 1989)
2.78.040 Vacations.
All full-time employees shall receive the following in addition to the paid holidays:

The immediate supervisor must have sufficient notification of vacation. There must be mutual agreement on the time and length of the vacation requested. Vacation time should not be accumulated from one year to the next. (Ord. 1006 § 3, 1989)
2.78.050 Compensation/overtime.
The individual employee may elect the compensation method for any overtime worked by the individual employee. A written form shall be completed by the employee in January of each year indicating which option he has chosen. An employee may choose to be compensated with pay at the rate of time and one-half or an employee may elect to take time off based on straight time. Such decision by the individual employee shall remain in effect for the full calendar year. (Ord. 1006 § 4, 1989)
